The Inland resort area belongs to the Mt. Hamiguitan Range Wildlife Sanctuary wherein you could see nature-made bonsai plants grown over hundred years and more, where the inland resort got its name.
From Barangay Dawan, Mati, Davao Oriental, you will enter Crossing Barangay Mamali road until you will reach Barangay Magum. Motorcycles ( Habal-Habal) could be hired for it is the only transportation available in the area when you do not have a car/ van on your way there. The road there is quite passable. You could see Pujada Island and Pujada Bay along the road.
The inland resort has overnight accommodations that won’t break the bank.It charges P5.00 entrance fee and cottages P100.00 for day tour and 150 pesos for overnight. You could also put up your camping tents. It has a closer to nature feel to it with the cold spring coming down from Mt. Hamiguitan through a river. The activities seem to be limited to swimming, trekking , boating, fishing and picnic.
The flowing water is so cold that you can dip your soft drinks under it without the trouble of looking for an ice and instantly you will have an ice cold drink. What I like in this resort is the view. The river paves its way to a bucana, where the river meets the seawater of Pujada Bay and Pujada Island is just nearby the resort. You can do island hopping anytime with the motorboats used by fisher folks along the area.
Pujada Island and Pujada Bay |
You could do swimming at the cold spring or swim at the beach. We did both.
You may bring your own food for there is no available restaurant in the area although you may able to cook your own food and ask the caretaker to buy food stuffs at the near barangay. Definitely, we will go back to BONSAI INLAND RESORT to enjoy its clean and refreshing spring water and its beautiful gardens and surroundings.
